In The Beginning
Globelink International was established in July 1997, pioneering the true wholesale NVOCC model in Australia. Starting with offices in Sydney and Melbourne, supported by agents in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth, we quickly integrated into Globelink's expanding global network, which initially spanned Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Pakistan. Our first export Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments departed for Singapore in August 1997 from both Sydney and Melbourne.
Our services rapidly expanded to include Hong Kong within the same month. These initial routes became weekly, soon requiring multiple containers per vessel. The strong industry response fueled our growth, allowing us to offer more direct services each month, including a twice-weekly service to Singapore. From the outset, we provided weekly import LCL services from key Asian ports like Singapore, Port Klang, and Bangkok to all major Australian ports. As Globelink's international presence grew, so did our Australian operations, both in imports and exports, establishing Globelink International as a leader in the international forwarding arena.
Our Success
Our unwavering commitment to the sea freight export market has allowed us to proudly maintain our position as the only "TRUE GENUINE WHOLESALE NVOCC" in Australia. Over two decades of dedicated service have fostered the trust and support of the freight forwarding community, enabling our continued neutrality. Recognizing the need for broader national coverage, we expanded our physical presence to Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide in 2003, extending our expertise and providing Australia-wide weekly export services.
We have continually expanded our export LCL consolidation services, now offering weekly connections to major hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong, Port Klang, Bangkok, Jakarta, Auckland, and Los Angeles. Additionally, we provide fortnightly services to Manila, Keelung, Busan, Yokohama, Shanghai, Dubai, Wellington, Lyttelton, Suva, Lautoka, Tilbury, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and La Spezia. Our service network extends far beyond these direct routes, encompassing over 1100 destinations worldwide through our strategic use of trans-shipment hubs.
This extensive network provides Globelink International with a significant competitive advantage, offering superior rates, transit times, and service options. We remain committed to exploring and seizing opportunities for further expansion of the Globelink network. Our Intra-Asia network is particularly strong, with over 40 offices. Our presence in key markets like China (11 offices), Indonesia (4 offices), India (5 offices), Malaysia (9 offices), Vietnam (4 offices), and Pakistan (2 offices), alongside offices in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and our global headquarters in Singapore, underscores our regional strength.
In 2005, the establishment of Globelink Dubai added a crucial trans-shipment hub, further enhancing our ability to serve our clients' diverse needs.
